Everyone wants to know whether the benefits from Acai fruits are real. After taking some time to think about Acai and reading over some research, I found that there are clearly benefits from Acai. Unfortunately, there are also false claims being used by companies selling Acai berry products to entice people into buying a fake version of Acai. There are still some alleged Acai benefits that are currently undergoing scientific testing that you should know about.
The reason that there is currently testing going on is due to the fact that the pure, organic Acai product is difficult to obtain in the United States. When you get an impure version of Acai, there are not any health benefits to be had from taking it. Most people that understand Acai realize that there are quality Acai products that can be beneficial to our health, and there are other forms of Acai that actually do not do anything towards improving our health.
The purest form of Acai pulp comes from the Amazon Rainforest and farms in the regions of South and Central America. Most Acai that was allegedly cultivated in the United States is not real stuff. In order for proper testing to be conducted on the Acai berry, testing needs to be done in South America - a place where natural Acai pulp is abundant.
Due to endorsements from Oprah, many people came to believe that the drink Mona-Vie with Acai berry was able to prove all scientific claims surrounding Acai. As with any popular product, there was a doctor who has made claims about Acai. Whether those claims are based in solid scientific research remains unknown.
There are other scientific papers that have claimed that Acai is a great source of protein. Apparently the Acai berry is able to supply plenty of protein to our body; containing higher protein amounts than you can get from eating an egg. Not to mention, Acai products typically do not have the high levels of cholesterol that eggs do. This benefit of getting a healthy amount of protein is most definitely true.
Another benefit from Acai is that it contains many natural antioxidants. Scientists have established that Acai berries contain a bigger blend of antioxidants than does any form of food. For this reason, the Acai berry has been considered to be a "super food" by many health gurus. Now, we all know that antioxidants are good for you. Whether this Acai berry is able to play a role in reducing cancer risk, slow aging, or prevent a heart attack is not currently known.
The Acai berry contains a vital nutrient called "anthocyanins," which has been proven to benefit our health. Some claim that "anthocyanins," which can also be found in red grapes and red wine, is able to improve the health of our entire cardiovascular system. Whether those claims are true, I am not sure. What I do know though, is that the Acai berry contains significantly more anthocyanins than red grapes and red wine combined. This is what gives the Acai berry its dark, purplish color.
As far as minerals, the Acai berry contains more than nearly every other type of food. Acai berries contain more helpful vitamins and minerals than any other form of fruit. Though it is never recommended to eat only Acai berries in your diet, there are people who have replaced unhealthy food groups with Acai and have managed to lose some weight. Acai itself will not make you lose weight, but using it to replace unhealthy food groups will definitely get you on the right track.
Though scientists are still at work determining how Acai berries have an effect upon our bodies, I'd be willing to bet that there are plenty of great benefits to be had from including them in our diet. We do know that Acai berries do have some benefits and can improve your health if you include them in your diet. Within the next couple of years, science will have debunked all myths surrounding the benefits of Acai and be able to set the record straight.
